MECDA’s Shimmython at our 33rd annual Cairo Caravan

The Shimmython is a real, live, shimmy-till-you-drop competition! At the same time, it is a fundraiser for a worthy cause. How long can you shimmy?! Awards will be given for both the longest shimmy-er as well as the person who raises the most funds for the charity.

Come out and shimmy for a cause! This year’s charity is the Alliance for a
Healthier Generation. The Alliance for a Healthier Generation aims to reduce the
nationwide prevalence of childhood obesity by 2015 and to empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices. Created by The American Heart Association, Bill Clinton, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Alliance works to positively affect the places that can make a difference to a child's health: homes, schools, restaurants, doctor's offices, and communities.

Friends, colleagues, businesses, and anyone who might like to support your
efforts in the competition and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation can make
donations. A minimum total of $50 in donations is required to compete in the
contest on stage at Cairo Caravan.*

Prizes will be awarded for both the contestant who gathers the most money from
donations as well as the contestant who shimmies the longest! One person can
win both prizes!!

*$50 may be obtained via donations or a donation may be made by the
contestant. We do encourage all contestants to get as many donations possible
to help support the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
